Scheduled Completion Date: August 30, 2018
Description: This project will resurface approximately 2.5 miles of Old Lansing Road between Lansing Rd and Waverly Rd in Delta Township. Work will include widening the existing pavement to provide bicycle lanes on each side of the road, placing a Stress Absorbing Membrane Interlayer (SAMI) over the existing asphalt surface, and new asphalt surfacing.
Bids are scheduled to be opened on June 1, 2018 by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).
Federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds and Federal Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) funds will pay a combined $520,000 of the estimated $880,000 contracted construction costs on the project. The local matching costs not covered by grant funds plus design and construction engineering will be shared by the Road Commission and Delta Charter Township.
The project will be constructed in two phases: 1) from Mt. Hope Hwy to Waverly Rd, and 2) Lansing Road to Mt. Hope Hwy. During Phase 1, one southbound lane between Waverly and Mt. Hope will be maintained. Northbound traffic will be detoured. During Phase 2, two-way traffic will be maintained on one lane using traffic regulations.
