Updated: July 10, 2018
Anticipated Start Date: April 2019
Expected Completion Date: July 2019
Description: This project will resurface approximately 2.5 miles of Old Lansing Road between Lansing Rd and Waverly Rd in Delta Township. Work will include widening the existing pavement to provide bicycle lanes on each side of the road, placing a Stress Absorbing Membrane Interlayer (SAMI) over the existing asphalt surface, and new asphalt surfacing.
Bids for this project were opened on June 1, 2018. The low bid was 26% higher (approximately $160,000) than the funding available for the project. For this reason, the bids were rejected and the project will be adjusted and rebid this winter. Other than traffic control and the bid schedule, the specifications and design of the project will not change.
Federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) funds and Federal Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) funds will pay a combined $520,000 of the estimated $880,000 contracted construction costs on the project. The local matching costs not covered by grant funds plus design and construction engineering will be shared by the Road Commission and Delta Charter Township.
The project will be constructed with the road closed to thru traffic, while local resident and business access is maintained.
