Description: This project will rehabilitate approximately 1.1 miles of Marshall Road between Baseline Hwy and Butterfield Hwy (Olivet city limits) in Walton Township. Work will include removing the existing asphalt surface, repairing joints and cracks in the underlying concrete pavement, asphalt surfacing, culvert replacement, curb and gutter at the Baseline Hwy intersection, upgrades to sidewalk ramps, and slope restoration and ditching where necessary. Existing guardrail will be replaced with new guardrail.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) awarded the project to the low bid of $682,878.01 from Reith-Riley Construction Co., Inc..
Federal Rural Surface Transportation Program (RSTP) funds and State Category D Transportation and Economic Development funds will pay 100% of the contracted construction costs on the project. Design and construction engineering costs will be paid from Road Commission funds. The expected life of a road project such as this is 15-20 years.
During construction, Marshall Road will be closed to through traffic from Baseline Hwy to Butterfield Hwy. The posted detour will begin at the NB I-69 ramp at N Drive in Calhoun County and end at the Butterfield Hwy ramp. Except for a short time while the contractor is working within the Butterfield Hwy and Marshall Rd intersection, the intersection will remain open during construction.
