Mall Drive West, M-43 (Saginaw) to Elmwood

Description:  This project will rehabilitate approximately 0.75 miles of Mall Drive West between M-43 (Saginaw Hwy) and Elmwood Road in Delta Township. This project will replace settled, heaved, and broken curb and gutter to improve drainage, perform full depth reclamation on the existing asphalt to provide a good base material, and place a new asphalt surface over the road. Construction is scheduled to begin on August 26, 2019.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) awarded the project to the low bid of $751,200 from Michigan Paving and Materials Co.

Federal Urban Surface Transportation Program (USTP) funds will pay $615,000 of the contracted construction costs on the project.  The local matching costs not covered by grant funds plus design and construction engineering will be shared by the Road Commission and Delta Charter Township.

During the project, Mall Drive West will be closed to through traffic:

Apartment Complex
Traffic will be maintained to one of the western two driveways into the apartment complex. Access will also be available off Elmwood Road.

Lansing Mall
All driveways into the mall from Mall Drive West will be closed during this work. The mall can be accessed from either M-43 or Elmwood Road.

The East-West Pathway will be closed where it splits toward the Lansing Mall. Pedestrians and bicycles can continue to Elmwood Road and access the mall at that location. All pedestrian crossings of Mall Drive West will be closed. Sidewalk at existing driveways will be removed and replaced during the project. All pedestrians should use Elmwood Road.

CATA Bus Stops
CATA will temporarily relocate the bus stops to the Lansing Mall parking lot on the north side of the mall. Contact CATA for more information.
